I joined the Molecular Engrams team of Priyanka Rao-Ruiz on the 1st of September 2020 as a PhD student.
Research Plans
The aim of my project is to develop technology geared towards identifying protein signatures of specific synapses implicated in health and disease.
This will (i) lead to the specification of different synapse types, (ii) provide fundamental insight into the functional role of synapse-diversity in systems-level organization and (iii) pinpoint distinct synapse expression signatures of cells/circuitry implicated in brain disease(s).
To achieve my goal, I will make use of state-of-the-art techniques like Fluorescence-Associated Synapse Sorting (FASS), Electron Microscopy and Nanoscale Mass Spectrometry-based proteomic analyses.
Educational Background
I graduated from The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata with a major in Biological Sciences. As a part of my Masters program, I completed an internship at the Winter lab (The Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Bonn, Germany).
The title of my master thesis was “Mass Spectrometry-Based Novel Targeted Approach for Absolute Quantification of Lysosomal Proteins using Isotope-Labelled Internal Standards”.
